Musée de la Mine et Puits des Glénons
8 km from Decize, the Musée de la Mine offers two complementary sites: the Musée de la Mine and the Puits des Glénons.
In 1974, when the last shaft at La Machine closed, many miners wanted to perpetuate the memory of their trade through a place that was both educational and captivating.
Open since 1983, the Musée de la Mine consists of :
- The Mine Museum: Closed in 2026 for works.
- The Puits des Glénons and its mine gallery: Located on the very site of its former activity. Here, discover the harsh working conditions of miners, women, children and animals, by getting down into the conditions with helmet and lamp to descend into a gallery! This unique area, led by guides, will plunge you into the world of darkness that was theirs.
Part of the tour is accessible to people with reduced mobility, except for access to the gallery, where a film is available as an alternative.
