These are suggested routes that you can follow at your own pace to explore a particularly delicious area of Burgundy. Along the way, you can sample:
- famous specialities to discover or rediscover via vists to workshops, museums and production sites.
- local produce and discover the expertise of passionate producers who will be happy to show you their farms, workshops and facilities.
- wine, of course, via tastings and visits to estates. You will also have the chance to immerse yourself into Burgundy's different wine-growing regions and appreciate all their riches: you'll find out all the secrets of the "Climat" terroir, soils, history, grape varieties and more.
- restaurants, from traditional bistros to Michelin-starred establishments, this is your opportunity to see how Burgundy's chefs compete with each other with creativity and skill, both in the kitchen and on your plate.
Most of the routes can be travelled by car. Each route comprises 3 or 4 towns to stop off in. A treasure trove of flavours and gourmet delights, each stop-off is an opportunity to spend a few hours exploring restaurants, shops and sites dedicated to gastronomy or wine.
The choice is yours from the wide range of gourmet options on offer. Pick and choose according to your desires: a good restaurant here, a wine estate there. And why not visit a goat farm or a snail producer to stock up on delicious farm products?
It all depends how hungry or thirsty you are! Each route is designed to be a reasonable length and never exceeds two hours. The rest of the time? You are free to indulge in as many culinary experiences as possible or sample a few offerings while you wander.
One thing is certain: each route will take you through the charming Burgundy landscapes of the Charolais countryside, passing through vineyards, the Morvan forests and the banks of the Yonne river.
Absolutely, they are customisable. If you wish, you can even focus your trip solely on Burgundy's culinary towns. Dijon, Beaune, Auxerre, Charolles, Saulieu and more, dozens of towns await you, each with their own specialities and must-see attractions, such as the Cité Internationale de la Gastronomie et du Vin in Dijon or the Cité des Climats et des Vins de Bourgogne in Beaune.
Yes, absolutely! In addition to places that make products that children love (sweets, gingerbread, chocolate, etc.), the sites along these routes often offer activities for kids. These include a fun workshop to make your own mustard at Moutarderie Fallot, a blackcurrant-themed visit at the Cassissium, and activities based on the senses in the 3 Cités des Climats et du Vin, among others.
