10 unmissable wine cellars
Visiting a wine cellar or estate is essential if you want to experience the culture of Burgundy. There is even an expression in French that means to go for a wine tasting in a cellar: 'faire une descente de cave'. So what are you waiting for? There's always a wine cellar nearby so you can see for yourselves why this is such an important part of Burgundian culture.
To help you, we have selected a dozen great wine cellars all over Burgundy's winegrowing areas, from the 'Route des Grands Crus' to the Yonne and Châtillonnais.

Along the 'Route des Grands Crus'
As you explore the narrow streets in the winegrowing villages of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, it's easy to forget that underneath your feet there are kilometres of wine cellars! Take the time to stop off and meet one of the local winegrowers...

Domaine Rion
The Rion family has two passions: wine and truffles. They invite you on a tour with them of the Vosne-Romanée vines, to their truffle patches and of course into their wine cellar where they will tell you all about their fantastic products.
You can expect a truly unforgettable experience here, especially if you opt for the 'winegrower experience' which ends with a dinner and tasting at Armelle and Bernard Rion's restaurant.
